Our President confirmed that we did have a quorum for the meeting.

There were a total of 23 people in attendance, 22 hams and 1 visitor.

Our President led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Our President reminded everyone to sign in, pay dues, purchase raffle tickets and all that good stuff.

Presentation:

A presentation was given by Don, AF6ND, regarding his work with a Las Vegas Engineering Company looking into stopping the jamming and or spoofing of GPS signals from satellite GPS systems, a project he has been intimately involved in for several months. As part of that he showed off his pocket Spectrum Analyzer that he used with his on-going project.

Introductions were made by everyone present

Secretaries Report:

Minute Minutes of the August 9th, 2024 meeting were presented and approved. As there we did not have a quorum for the September 13th, 2024 meeting there are no minutes. The September meeting time was taken up by a simple roundtable discussion.

Treasurer Report:

Our Treasurer, Glen Frost, WL7WU reported that we had a balance of approximately $1963.67, however a recent bank statement was not available to validate against.

Sunshine Fund:

There has been no change in the Sunshine Fund. Please keep Debbie, KA6GRL, advised if there is a need.

Announcements:

There were no general announcements.

Old Business:

Website updates are needed. Various members brought up points that needed addressing. David, NE7G, took the lead to purse the various updates. Including:

– New “radio” picture for the home page.

– New club logo.

– Various content updates and repairs. Others for consideration???

– Adding “PARRA.ORG” as a possible DNS search term.

There was some discussion of updating the Wells Fargo Bank account, but the problem continues to be availability of people to get it done.

A motion was made and accepted to investigate moving the account without really assigning dates or responsibility. I think Jerry, N7HYV, has the lead for this effort, but I was unsure by listening to the recording of the meeting minutes.

There was a discussion of various repeater operations.
We discussed something brought up last month about a product called F-500 fire retardant that is added to water to extinguish lithium fires.

New Business:

Inventory of Club Property: In summary, after considerable discussion, it was decided that since we are not an official entity by any legal (or illegal) definition that we don’t actually have a hard and fast requirement to keep an inventory of so-called Club Property. There is a considerable amount of stuff that is considered in a junk and recycle status. Foster (?) will bring the latest inventory that he has on file to the next club meeting. This property is scattered between Foster’s, Jerry’s and Dean’s house, is at least 30 years old and generally in unserviceable / museum status. Simple disposal may be the best way to proceed. This topic will be addressed further at the November meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 18:07 pm.

Next Meeting:

The next club meeting will be on Friday November 8th, 2024 at 5:15 pm at the new location:

Nye County Emergency Operations Center (EOC), 1510 Siri Ln, Pahrump, NV 89060.

After the meeting activities included the usual Raffle. Unfortunately, this was completed and everyone disbursed before I could get the value of the pot or who won it. My bad……
